Fotona’s StarWalker advanced Q-switched laser technology utilizes the patented OPTOflex® and Vacuum Cell Technologies to produce near-perfect homogeneous beam profiles. The patented OPTOflex® articulated arm is designed to efficiently transmit the laser beam without losing energy or changing the beam’s original properties. The shape and magnitude of the aiming beam offer increased visibility, allowing for more efficient treatments through greater precision. Acclaro Clinic offers treatments using the 1064 and 532 laser wavelengths. The 1064 laser wavelength is typically used to treat and remove dark pigments, whereas the 532 laser wavelength targets lighter pigments.

The laser is mostly tolerable and feels like little pricks on the skin. If higher energy procedures like scar treatments are required, patients are numbed with a numbing cream for 30-40 minutes before the procedure.

Downtime depends on the problem being managed.
Laser toning is generally mild and produces a mildly pink face. Patients are able to apply makeup and return to social activities immediately.
Other treatments such as spot or scar treatment will have a downtime of up to 1 week.

All pico lasers have potential side effects, and these may include initial irritation with temporary itch and rash, acne outbreaks in sensitive skin. More serious side effects such as burns are less common.
The Starwalker MaQx system however is a lot safer due to the quick picosecond pulses.
As with any medical device, it is especially important that the aesthetic doctor operating the machine has appropriate training and experience in using it to minimise potential complications.
